Octopus Deploy sets the standard for Continuous Delivery, empowering software teams to deliver value in an agile way. Over 4,000 organizations globally – including Ubisoft, Xero, Stack Overflow, NASA, and Disney – rely on our Continuous Delivery, GitOps, and release orchestration solutions.
We’re a profitable scale-up of 300+ people, growing steadily. We’ve built a high-trust, remote-first, and value-driven culture where people are given space to do their best work.
We’re looking for a Design Director to lead the evolution of Octopus’ enterprise-scale experiences. This role sits at the intersection of strategic design leadership and deep domain complexity: you’ll guide a team of talented designers, shape how enterprises experience trust, governance, and identity at scale, and set the vision for core missions like Platform Hub and Cloud Authentication.
By championing the needs of enterprise customers and partnering across R&D and go-to-market teams, you’ll help Octopus deliver experiences that are unified, unmistakably Octopus, and built for the scale of our largest customers.

Why this job is exciting

  • You’ll play a pivotal role in shaping enterprise-scale experiences across Octopus, with a focus on trust, standardisation, governance, and identity at scale
  • We’re building an Enterprise product that doesn’t suck – come help us tackle this challenge and prove that it’s possible!
  • You’ll lead the Platform Hub mission and set the next horizon of strategy in partnership with Product and Engineering peers, as well as lay the foundations for an enterprise-grade Identity and access management experience
  • You’ll lead and grow a team of 2–4 Product Designers, introducing rituals, rhythms, and practices that help them thrive
  • You’ll serve as a visible design leader across R&D and the company, advocating for enterprise customers and building alignment between Product, Research, Engineering, Design, Sales, Marketing, and Customer teams
  • You’ll have autonomy, impact, and the chance to help set the standard for how Octopus serves our largest, most complex customers

What you’ll do

  • Lead product design across the Enterprise Scale domain, supporting and growing a team of Product Designers
  • Act as a player-coach close to the details, both shaping strategy with key partners and stepping into driving specific initiatives
  • Champion design for both Day 1 and Day 200: from first-time setup to long-term enterprise operations across thousands of engineers and multiple business units
  • Work with Product & Engineering peers to lead your group and establish systems for high-quality execution on feature development
  • Champion the needs of enterprise customers (scale, admin, trust, governance), shaping multi-touchpoint journeys that extend beyond the product itself
  • Pave the way for how we measure the experience for our enterprise cohort, helping us hold the right bar for quality
  • Partner with Research, Sales, Marketing, CSM, and TAMs to influence the end-to-end enterprise experience
  • Drive coherence and consistency across Enterprise experiences, ensuring Octopus feels unified and unmistakably ours
  • Inspire teams with compelling narratives that link design to customer and business outcomes

We’re looking for someone like you who

  • Has 12+ years of product design experience, with substantial time in enterprise B2B SaaS or developer tooling
  • Ideally designed for security-sensitive, admin, or governance-heavy workflows (CIAM, IAM, or platform-level administration experience is a big plus)
  • Thrives in complexity: you can map multi-stakeholder journeys, anticipate edge cases, and balance effortless UX with enterprise-grade requirements
  • Brings a strong toolkit as a design practitioner, with skills in journey mapping, vision casting, prototyping, customer research & other sense-making artefacts that articulate our customer experience.
  • Has proven experience leading and growing designers, creating conditions for quality and impact
  • Influences and aligns execs, peers, and cross-functional leaders around ambitious product experiences
  • Communicates with clarity and inspiration, helping teams connect daily decisions to the bigger picture
  • Brings a systems mindset, to spot cross-portfolio opportunities and coach others to steward quality
