As a Lead Annotator at Nagish, you will build and manage our annotation team, define high-quality labeling standards, and support the development of tools and training platforms that accelerate our sign language research. You’ll play a central role in scaling our data operations and ensuring that annotation quality is consistent, accurate, and deeply informed by the Deaf and SignWriting communities.

On a day to day, you will:

• Design annotation protocols and define labeling standards
• Contract, train, and manage a team of annotators (ideally from the SignWriting community)
• Oversee QA and annotation reviews, either directly or by establishing a review hierarchy
• Collaborate with engineers and researchers to improve annotation tooling and workflows
• Track annotation velocity, consistency, and quality across contributors
• Help design and iterate on a SignWriting training platform

• Background in linguistics or sign language (preferably both)
• Familiarity with SignWriting is strongly preferred
• Demonstrated experience in managing people and projects
• Excellent communication and organizational abilities
• Experience developing educational or training content
• Experience managing annotation teams or workflows is a plus
• Working hours are aligned with the Eastern Time Zone
• Compensation: $60K-$90K per year, depending on experience and qualifications
